Rio de Janeiro Tourist/Visitor Information

If you need information on Rio while you’re in town, there are two major tourist information companies. Riotur is the city tourism department. The information booth (Av. Princesa Isabel 183, Copacabana. 021/2541-7522) is open from 8AM-5PM every day. You can also find desks at airports and at the bus terminal, Novo Rio.

The state tourism board, Turisrio (Rua da Ajuda 5, Centro. 021/2215-0011), is only open on weekdays from 9Am to 6PM. If you want more general information on Brazil as a whole you can contact Embratur (Rua Uruguainia 174, Centro. 021/2509-6292). Visitor centers are an excellent way to find important information for tourists and learn about the different sites and events available in the city without having to be worried about heavy handed sales pitches.

When in Rio…

Before you book your flight, however, you should make sure you bone up on some of the general info on Rio.
