Carnival Celebration in Rio

Carnival is the biggest and longest celebration in Brazil. Brazilians celebrate Carnival during the month of February before Lent. Rio de Janeiro is the Carnival capital of the world. The Rio Carnival is the most artistic and inventive with elaborate Samba parades inside the Sambodromo. Samba schools compete with each other to win the championship title. They have lavish floats with beautiful and energetic dancers that dress up in samba costumes.

However, there are many street parades in Rio with floats and dancers. Many people dress up in beautiful costumes at the bloco or street band parades and dance to live Samba music along the floats throughout Rio de Janeiro. Rio Carnival starts on Saturday and ends on Fats Tuesday with the start of Lent. Rio Carnival attracts more than 500,000 tourists every year. Carnival is the most celebrated Rio de Janeiro holiday.

Christmas in Rio de Janeiro

Christmas celebrations in Rio de Janeiro are very similar to the ones in the United States or the United Kingdom. The only difference is that the weather is very hot, because it is summer time during the month of December in Brazil. Many Brazilians start the Christmas celebration by displaying fireworks and have extravagant barbeques on Christmas Eve.

New Year Eve’s Celebration in Rio de Janeiro

Millions of people from around the world come to Rio de Janeiro to bring in the New Year. New Year’s Eve celebrations on Copacabana beach are very glorious and extraordinary with lavish firework shows. Rio de Janeiro is one of the best places in the world to visit during New Year’s Eve. In fact, the parties among the locals on New Year’s Eve do not start until noon and ends in the morning on New Year’s Day. Most Brazilians dress in all white clothing on New Year’s Eve to bring them good luck and peace for the upcoming year. After the clock strikes midnight, the Brazilian people run into the water at the beaches to jump over seven tidal waves and then make a wish by throwing flowers into the sea. In addition, many Brazilians place lighted candles on the beaches to petition the Goddess Yemanja of the sea to make their wishes come true. New Year’s Eve is one of Rio de Janeiro holidays spectacular that will forever be inside your heart.
