Rio de Janeiro Top Places
When you visit Brazil you want to visit some of the Rio de Janeiro top places and sightseeing areas. These are areas located in or near Rio and which can be visited in a few hours or by taking a quick day trip. This way you get a better feeling for the real culture in Brazil. The following are some great sightseeing activities to choose from.
Visit Petropolis City – Located just southeast of Rio de Janeiro, a city rich in history and culture, and full of remnants of the imperial family that once lived here. This wonderful city sits within the mountain valley of Serra dos Orgaos (now a national park). Petropolis is one of Rio de Janeiro´s top attraction and located just an hour out of Rio. Be sure to visit the Imperial museum where you will see rare jewels, the imperial crown and other astounding works of art. Even the museum itself is interesting as it was once the summer home of the Emperor Dom Pedro II.
Another of Rio de Janeiro´s top places is the statue of Christ the Redeemer on the top of Corco Vado. To get to the statue you will be taken through the Tijuca Rain forest by train and will get to enjoy the true beauty of the rain forest. From above the Corco Vado you will have an incredible view of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
After having traveled through the wonderful rain forests, and gone to the home of the imperial family you may want a more relaxing activity. Another Rio de Janeiro top places and activities is a cruise of the Sepetiba bay. This is a great day trip where you travel from Rio to Itacuruca and there you board a beautiful schooner to cruise through the water and get a good look at the incredible marine wildlife. You enjoy lunch on one of the island paradises of Brazil and then explore a little before returning to Rio de Janeiro.
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
